Waterline Data Appoint New VPs of Engineering and Product Management

Mountain View, Calif. — August 23, 2017 — Waterline Data, a leader in Data Lifecycle Management, announced today the appointments of two experienced executives to its management team. Venkat Subramanian joins as Vice President of Engineering while Andrew Ahn is promoted to Vice President of Product Marketing. Waterline finished the most recent quarter with 50% quarter over quarter growth and the new leadership will facilitate the company’s rapidly expanding customer base and product portfolio to deliver data catalog solutions for the discovery, governance and accelerated use of Big Data.

Subramanian brings significant management experience to Waterline Data, having previously led engineering teams at both Dataguise, a leading security solutions innovator, and SpikeSource, an open source software certification company. His leadership experience will be instrumental in growing Waterline Data’s software engineering teams to expand development and maintenance of Waterline’s Smart Data Catalog solutions.

“Waterline Data is working at the heart of the Big Data dilemma, enabling data-driven organizations to remove the roadblocks that prevent them from taking their analytics to the next level, while ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulations,” said Subramanian. “One area where I believe we can bring even greater efficiency to the discovery, governance and use of data is through further development of our unique data fingerprinting technology and machine learning capabilities to help organizations put all their data to work faster than ever.”

Since joining Waterline Data in January of 2017, Ahn has led the product management team tasked with developing the customer stories that showcase the value of the company’s data catalog solutions. Previously, Ahn held product management positions at Hortonworks as well as the Intercontinental Exchange.

“I’m excited to be a part of Waterline Data as market demand for data catalog applications is growing and the company is demonstrating its leadership through deployment of our visionary solution and through new customer acquisitions,” said Andrew Ahn, VP of Product Marketing.

“We are experiencing a period of hyper-growth and are thrilled to have two proven leaders join our management team to help us sustain our momentum,” says Waterline CEO Alex Gorelik. “Helping organizations connect the right people to the right data is an incredibly critical task which, in today’s information-driven age, can mean the difference between success and failure.”
