Founder and CEO
Waterline is Alex’s 3rd startup. Prior to Waterline Data, Alex served as GM of Informatica’s Data Quality Business Unit, driving Marketing, Product Management and R&D for an $80M business. Alex joined Informatica from IBM, where he was an IBM Distinguished Engineer for the Information Integration team. IBM acquired Alex’s second startup, Exeros, where he was founder, CTO and VP of Engineering.
Previously, Alex was co-founder, CTO and VP of Engineering at Acta Technology which was subsequently acquired by Business Objects. Prior to founding Acta, Alex managed development of Replication Server at Sybase and worked on Sybase’s strategy for enterprise application integration (EAI).
Alex holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University School of Engineering and a M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Chief Operating Officer
Ron brings over 25 years of data management experience at companies like Informatica, Sybase and X15 Software, where he held a number of leadership roles in sales, business development and general management. Prior to joining Waterline Data, Ron was the Co-founder and EVP of Field Operations at X15 Software, which was acquired by FireEye. He joined Informatica in 1996 as the first sales person and saw the company grow from $0 to $1 billion during his tenure. As the General Manager for Informatica Cloud, he built and managed Informatica’s cloud business from inception to establishment as the leading Cloud Integration Service in the industry, with more than 1,000 customers. Ron holds a BS in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.
Prior to joining Waterline, Venkat held the roles of both CTO and Vice President of Engineering at DataGuise. Before Dataguise, he managed SpikeSource’s distributed platform engineering team responsible for automating product development and testing a cloud infrastructure. Venkat also served at Oracle in various leadership and executive positions over 13 years. Most notably, he ran Oracle’s Database and Server Products R&D center in India at which time the center doubled in size to nearly 2,000 engineering staff in less than two years. Venkat also spearheaded the process related to product security emerging into an Oracle standard for all server products while overseeing key relationships with Oracle’s large global customers and partners including NEC and Fujitsu.
Venkat holds a Bachelor’s Degree in EE from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, India.
VP of Sales
Ravi brings to Waterline 15+ years of experience in the hi-tech industry in Sales and Sales Management delivering strong revenue results in highly competitive markets. Most recently, Ravi was part of the founding team at CSC’s Big Data incubator and as the top performing Sales Leader in the Americas, helped grow the unit into a $200M business driving the adoption of Hadoop, NoSQL and Next Gen Platform-as-a-Service solutions into global 1000 customers. Prior to this, as VP of Sales and member of the management team at AppLabs, he was instrumental in growing North Americas revenue resulting in a successful acquisition by CSC. Previously, Ravi was SVP of Sales at China-based VanceInfo Technologies leading sales efforts in the Americas culminating in a public listing on the NYSE. His previous roles included senior positions at Xchanging, Pegasystems and Scient. Ravi holds an MBA from Clark University in Massachusetts and a Bachelor’s Degree from Delhi University.
SVP of Product
Mohan comes to Waterline Data from Narus (Cybersecurity subsidiary of Boeing) where he was the SVP of Products and Business Development responsible for the big data cybersecurity suite of products. Prior to this, he served as VP and GM of the cloud services broker business unit at Intel Corporation, through the acquisition of Aepona. His experience also includes serving as the SVP of marketing at Synchronous (through acquisition of FusionOne) where he managed marketing, business development, products and the patent portfolio. Mohan has also held leadership positions at Trimble, Openwave Systems, Schlumberger and Nortel. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Queens University in Canada and an MBA from Columbia University.
VP of Finance
Jason joined Waterline with 15+ years of experience having served in many roles in finance for a variety of hi-tech firms. He was most recently at Pernixdata where he coordinated all annual financial planning, forecasting budgeting, pricing, cash flow management and ad hoc financial analysis for the firm prior to its acquisition by Nutanix. Before Nutanix, Jason held a variety of leadership positions in Finance with Tintri, Data Domain (acquired by EMC) and Yahoo. Jason holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BS in Finance and Economics from Cal State San Jose.
Head of Talent and HR Operations
Laura joined Waterline with 15+ years of experience in Talent and People Operations for a variety of tech startups. She was most recently at Premise Data and ZEFR, where she worked to lead recruiting, sourcing, talent systems and operational set-ups. Laura seeks new hires who embody the DNA of an organization, resulting in that ideal match. Prior to recruiting, Laura was an account executive for Computer Associates, selling large enterprise software solutions. She holds a BS with a focus in Business and Psychology from West Virginia University.
