Sales Director, Global Business Development (ISV Sales)

In this role you will drive Waterline Data’s products and services through ISVs globally.  Reporting to the President & COO, this is a strategic hire and you will play a key role in driving adoption of Waterline Data’s Smart Data Catalog by the ISVs in their development of data lakes and analytics solutions.

You will have overall responsibility for ISV sales, third party alliances, and customer satisfaction, participate in strategic and tactical planning and develop working relationships with the field sales team to develop joint account plans. You will need the ability to successfully interact internally with executive management regarding negotiation of complex matters to influence policy.

Your experience in influencing teams of direct sales reps, toward attainment of both the overall team quota and their individual quotas, will be a key ingredient of your success in this role.

In this role you will:

  • Have overall responsibility for sales, third party alliances, and customer satisfaction with SIs
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy that maximizes Waterline Data’s opportunities across all products and product lines
  • Manage and develop programs and process for SI recruitment, enablement, and service delivery
  • Sell and promote the sales of Waterline Data products to SIs / customers including negotiating price and other concessions and terms and conditions of the sale.
  • Participate in strategic and tactical planning
  • Build working relationships with field sales teams to develop joint account plans
  • Develop and execute a territory plan to maximize revenue
  • Generate and achieve monthly territory forecasts, and accurately predict revenue on a monthly basis
  • Manage escalation
  • Conduct weekly progress meetings with sales team
  • Assist in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives
  • Regularly interact across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of twelve years’ total experience
  • At least five years’ sales or sales management experience within the software industry (leading outside direct sales teams preferred)
  • Experience with sales of big data solutions is preferred
  • A Bachelor’s level degree is strongly preferred
  • Ability to resolve customer satisfaction issues
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to large and small audiences
  • Ability to negotiate price, other concessions, and terms and conditions
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and conflict resolution abilities
  • Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations
  • The ability to travel as needed (approximately 50%)

Pre-Sales Solution Engineer

Waterline Data is looking for a pre-sales solution engineer to grow and support our customer base. The individual must enjoy heavy customer/prospect interaction, working closely with the engineering team, and designing effective solutions to prospects’ challenges.

In this role you will:

  • Engage, educate, and empower prospects, customers, and partners with Waterline Data’s solutions, driving mutual success
  • Develop and deliver engaging sales presentations and product demonstrations
  • Conduct workshops to identify customer needs, requirements, and success criteria
  • Execute successful POCs, progressing opportunities to the next stage of the sales cycle
  • Troubleshoot technical problems that prospects may experience
  • Respond to RFIs and RFPs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Account Executive

Waterline Data is poised for explosive growth and we are looking for a dynamic Account Executive who is obsessed with closing business and building great customer relationships in North America. Location preference is San Francisco Bay Area, New York or Chicago.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct accountability to meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales quota on a consistent basis
  • Build a robust pipeline (3-5X of qualified opportunities) and close deals to achieve and exceed company’s revenue targets
  • Collaborate with inside sales to further qualify and communicate to prospective customers the differentiated value of Waterline Data at both business and technical level
  • Work with Sales Engineering to clearly articulate value propositions and deliver business value to customers by facilitating successful execution of POCs in the sales cycle
  • Identify the customer decision makers, buyers, influencers, and develop strategies for each to mitigate risk and improve deal confidence
  • Orchestrate and manage the closing process including negotiations, Ts & Cs, and procurement activities
  • Use sales tools like Salesforce.com to maintain a current and accurate pipeline of deals (pipeline and forecast)
  • Review and update pipeline and opportunities with Waterline Data management on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years direct enterprise software sales experience with a demonstrated history of managing complex sales cycles to consistently meet or exceed annual quota and performance targets
  • Experience with early stage startups
  • Strong consultative selling background and success in navigating complex clients to drive client engagement with both IT and the business decision makers
  • Experience with data management or analytics and understanding of data governance, DW/BI, ETL and data management concepts (preferable, not required)
  • Keen understanding of the market dynamics to lead competitive positioning in a software sales campaign
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong orientation to team communication and collaboration
  • Ability to travel at least 30% of the time
